About us
El Cotarón opened at the end of the pandemic, after a long career in the hospitality trade.
What started as a simple project has, thanks to the support of our guests, grown into a thriving restaurant. Just 10 minutes from Gijón, our premises stand out for their size and comfort, with two dining rooms, a glass-walled bar and a two-level terrace with breathtaking views.
We’re proud to be accessible to everyone, with adapted spaces so that every guest can make the most of their visit.

Food & menus
Our menu reflects the richness of Asturian cuisine, with a selection of fresh fish such as monkfish (pixín), cod and turbot, and traditional meat dishes like cachopo and roast kid.
Asturian tapas such as spider crab croquettes or scorpionfish pâté (pastel de cabracho) are a hit with our guests. But what truly sets us apart are our set menus, featuring dishes like rice with lobster (arroz con bugre) and grilled octopus.
All accompanied by a carefully chosen selection of local wines and ciders that pair perfectly with every dish.

Just one word: a 10!!!!! The service, the food, the place… Pure happiness… The waiters are a 10 — attentive without being pushy. You can breathe peace here, it’s so calm, with wonderful views over Gijón. It’s a joy, especially being right in the countryside; it’s hard to find a place like this. And a seafood restaurant like this even more so!! We’ll definitely be back!!!
We were a group of 16 and our experience at the restaurant was exceptional. The service was excellent, very attentive and professional. The food was simply superb — every dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavour. We treated ourselves to wine and seafood, including lobster, and the price was very, very good. Without a doubt a place I would recommend to anyone looking for a high-quality dining experience. We’ll definitely be back!
Top marks for everything!!! For places like this you should be able to give more stars — or the same ones BUT BIGGER!!! 😜 Nothing more to say. And that’s even though the weather wasn’t on our side. In the sunshine it must be spectacular to have a drink outside on the terrace and then eat… anything at all, because it’s all good.
